Into Her Future

Former Crash Vegas vocalist Michelle McAdorey has delivered a stunner of a full length with Into Her Future. The nine song effort, produced by Blue Rodeo’s Greg Keelor at his Lost Cause studio, opens with the gentle title track, a sparsely fleshed out acoustic ditty about moving on. With “Disappearing Things” and “Leave the Main Road,” McAdorey delivers a few upbeat tunes that would sound great on a long drive through the Canadian shield, which are contrasted by such delicate ditties as the poppy “2 Tickets” and the pensive “Line Across My Heart,” all delivered with her gorgeous voice over pretty perfect instrumentation (including some great twang with plenty of reverb). The heart of the disc may be the epic “Culvert Jack.” Clocking in at seven minutes, it would easily fit alongside Sarah Harmer or Kathleen Edwards’ best, with a battle cry from the shady side of the noonday sun that I almost thought was a lost Land of Talk tune. A triumph of timeless sounds, Into Her Future belongs in yours.
